A couple of years ago, I bought a 1985 Land Rover from the Canary Islands. When it arrived, there were a few changes that I made to make it more safe and more comfortable. The truck doesn’t have speakers or a radio, so I began to think about how I could listen to music while I drove. There was an unused ashtray in the center of the dashboard. I opened it and saw that a couple of screws held it in place. When I removed them, I was able to remove the whole ashtray piece. The opening in the dashboard was too small for a radio and I don’t know much about wiring. I had a Bluetooth speaker that would play music, but I needed a way to mount it. Since the speaker was a cylinder, I thought that it might fit in a bike water bottle holder. I measured the speaker and searched for an accommodating water bottle holder. I found one that was large enough to hold the speaker and ordered it. Then I constructed a model of the ashtray that I removed and input screw holes to fix the water bottle holder. I screwed the 3D printed part to the dashboard and the water bottle holder to the 3D printed part, then slid the speaker in. This gave me Bluetooth speaker functionality in a truck from 1985.
