Staple Designs uses the ubiquitous, gritty pigeon as their logo and frequently collaborates with Nike. In recent years, Nike has experimented with different ways to release high-demand sneakers to eliminate lines, make the buying process safer and add an experiential element. Having this in mind, I began designing a bird feeder that could be placed around the city and photographed through an app to unlock a ticket to purchase exclusive sneakers. I sought to design something both different and recognizable while representing Staple. I used the colors, logos and Chinese heritage of the founder to create a modern bird feeder with a classic Chinese Temple motif. There is a cap and a cavity in the middle of the feeder to keep squirrels out while dispensing bird food to the pigeons of NYC. Finding these feeders would bring a unique experience to sneaker buyers.
