Five years ago, I was asked, “if you could do anything, what would you want to do?” I thought about it for a while and said that I would want to invent a new game. The others at the table didn’t take my response seriously, but that’s exactly what I did. During my long commutes, I thought of different versions of tailgate games that I could invent. I eventually landed on one concept that I thought could be viable. All I had was a general concept, but I set out to build this game, starting a journey that would eventually lead me to grad school. Unbeknownst to me when I started, this passion project would teach me the value of user observation while iterating, CAD software, to refine my Adobe Illustrator skills, 3D printing, material science, how to write a business plan and more generally, how to think like a designer.
